As a native Sicilian, Verdura grew up in a bygone world of superstition and legend, eventually becoming an avid student of astrology and mythology. As a jeweler, he wove these stories and tales of his childhood into his designs, conceiving the Pleiades Brooch from the eponymous constellation, named for the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology.
